Virtual chips — no real-money withdrawals

This Octro Teen Patti review looks at one of the longest-running Teen Patti apps in India. It is a social card game played with virtual chips: there are no real-money withdrawals, and its appeal is the range of game modes and the option to play with friends, not a way to earn.

Who Makes It: About Octro

Octro Teen Patti comes from Octro, Inc., an Indian games company founded in 2006 and based in Noida. Its portfolio also includes Indian Rummy, Octro Poker, Tambola and Call Break.

In 2014 the company raised a $15 million Series A round from Sequoia Capital. In short, this is an established publisher, not an anonymous clone with a similar name.

Signup, Lobby and Interface

Octro’s website describes guest access alongside Google, Apple and Facebook sign-in; the exact options depend on your device and app version. Guest mode is a sensible way to look around before linking a social account.

Store screenshots show a landscape table with opponents around the centre, visible balances and blind/seen labels. Variants, private play and tournaments are grouped into large icons in the lobby.

The table controls are the standard ones: Blind means betting without looking at your cards, Seen means you have looked and now bet at the higher seen rate, Pack means folding, and Show asks for a comparison of hands when the rules allow it. Our Teen Patti rules guide explains the full sequence.

Before joining a table, check the boot, the current stake and the pot limit.

Game Modes Explained

Octro Teen Patti offers much more than the standard game. What matters is whether a mode changes hand strength, the starting stake or the format of a session. The descriptions below follow Octro’s published rules; availability can vary by account and app version.

ModeWhat changesBest for
ClassicStandard three-card play with boot and blind/seen decisionsLearning the base game
JokerA randomly chosen rank acts as a wild cardExploring wild-card hands
AK47Aces, kings, fours and sevens are wildPlayers comfortable reassessing hand strength
MuflisThe rankings are reversed: the weakest hand winsTurning familiar rankings upside down
Lowest JokerThe lowest card in each player’s hand becomes wildHand-by-hand wild-card decisions
Revolving JokerThe joker rank is not fixed and can change during the handPlayers who like following changing hands
4X BootThe opening contribution is four times the normal bootHigher starting stakes

Wild cards make strong hands more common, so a good-looking hand is worth less than in Classic. A bigger boot means the same balance covers fewer hands.

The lobby also lists 999, Banco, In-Out and tournament formats. Read the in-game rules for these before playing, as they differ more from standard Teen Patti.

If you are new, start with Classic and move to the variants once the base game feels natural. Our variations guide covers the background.

Private Tables and Playing with Friends

A private table lets you play only with people you know. According to the developer’s guide, it works like this:

  1. 1Open private tables

Choose the private-table option from the lobby.

  2. 2Set the boot

Pick the boot amount and any other settings your version offers.

  3. 3Invite friends

Send invites through Facebook or WhatsApp, depending on what your app supports.

  4. 4Agree and start

Wait for everyone to join and confirm the rules before the first hand.

It works well as a remote version of a Diwali card evening, without cash on the table. Agree on a modest virtual stake and a stopping time in advance. Chat and leaderboards add interest, but buying chips should never become the price of keeping up with friends.

Chips, Bonuses and In-App Purchases

Octro Teen Patti uses chips for play and diamonds that can be converted into chips. Neither is a cash balance, and neither can be withdrawn.

The welcome offer is advertised inconsistently: the official website promises up to two crore chips, while the store description mentions up to three lakh. Check what your new account actually receives.

Free chips come from daily rewards, a bonus wheel and achievements. Gullak works like a piggy bank: chips build up as you play, but unlocking it can involve a payment (the store lists a ₹9 Gullak purchase), so it is not the same as a free reward.

Chip packs listed on the Indian App Store on 3 November 2026:

PackChipsPrice (INR)
Gullak ChipsNot stated₹9
25 Lakh Chips for Elite User25 lakh₹29
194 CR Chips194 crore (as labelled)₹89
4 Crore Chips for Elite User4 crore₹269
10 Cr Chips for Elite Player10 crore₹549

The price per chip varies widely between packs, and the Elite packs may only be offered to some players, so compare before buying.

How long free chips last depends on the boot, raises and results. Treat any purchase as entertainment spending, not an investment: set a rupee budget before opening the shop, keep purchase authentication on, or simply play without spending. When the free chips run out, stopping is always an option.

Ads, Pop-ups and Fairness: What Players Report

Octro Teen Patti contains ads. In store reviews, some players report pressure to buy chips, disputed deals, purchases not credited and slow support. These reports deserve attention, though they do not show how often an individual player will run into problems.

Octro says its games use real players and anti-fraud measures, yet a testimonial on its own website mentions playing against “AI”. That does not prove bots are present, and a losing streak is not proof of manipulated dealing. We did not find an independent RNG audit.

The Indian App Store privacy disclosure lists location and identifiers among the data that may be used for tracking.

Chips have no cash value. If you find yourself spending more than you planned, see our responsible gaming page.

Our Verdict

It is not for anyone looking to earn money, and players who dislike ads and purchase prompts should try the free experience before spending. Our score: 6.5/10. For other options, see our Teen Patti apps page.

FAQ

Is Octro Teen Patti real money?

No. It uses virtual chips, and winnings cannot be withdrawn. Optional purchases still cost real rupees, so “not a cash game” does not mean you cannot spend money.

Can I withdraw chips from Octro Teen Patti?

No. Chips are for entertainment inside the app only. Buying a pack does not give you anything you can exchange for money.

How do I get free chips in Octro Teen Patti?

Through daily rewards, the bonus wheel, achievements and promotions. The welcome bonus is advertised differently across official sources, so check what your account receives.

Can I play Octro Teen Patti with friends?

Yes. Create a private table, set the boot and invite friends through the options your app version supports, such as Facebook or WhatsApp.

Are there bots in Octro Teen Patti?

Octro says it uses real players and anti-fraud measures. Some players suspect otherwise, but there is no public evidence either way and no independent audit.

Which is better: Octro Teen Patti or Teen Patti Gold?

Octro is better for Teen Patti variations; Teen Patti Gold suits players who also want poker and rummy. Both are free, so the simplest choice is the app your friends already use.
